I'm writing a short story.
It's called Rilo Kiley (The tragedy, not the band). It's about, and I quote from wikipedia:
"the tragic tale of two exiled, gay, high school football players, Ben Rilo and Stephen Kiley, who committed suicide in 1909 on the railroad tracks just outside of their Midwestern town after making love for the last time. As a tribute to the two young men the band members adopted the name Rilo Kiley, which is also the name of the crossing where the two young men met their end. "
It's set in 1909. Which I know absolutely nothing about, so it might take a bit of research. But, this is a really sad story and I'm going to try my hardest to make it not totally suck.
It'll be broken up into small passages/mini chapters, alot like the book Speak. Okay, here we goooo:
Panic
I think he loves me.
I think he hates me. He’s so cute. Did he get a haircut I think he did it is so unbelievably cute. He looking this way. He’s looking this way. Don’t look now but he’s looking this way don’t panic don’t panic don’t panic. Just avoid eye contact eye contact eye conataaaaaaaaaa—He has blue eyes.
Someone says my name I jump ten feet in the air I’m panicking dammit. The math teacher gives me an odd look. I don’t care.
Alright everyone, she says, Class is now in session, she is yelling over the chatter of several high school seniors, Take out your notebooks.
Geometry Geometry Geometry Stephen + Ben Geometry Geometry.
Mrs. King asks for our homework I didn’t do it I’m sorry. I get detention again but I have practice thank god I can’t stand my math teacher. He’s still looking this way is my hair messed up I’m so panicki—
Mr. Kiley. Please answer the question, says a voice from outside of my little fantasy world. A voice from the cold world outside. It tells me to write the circumference of some circle on the board. I get it wrong oh no now he’ll think I’m stupid but then again I am but only when I’m near him.
